Sometimes BiG Ideas Come in Little Packages
Believe in Green was born during a conversation with my daughter Mika when she was 7 years old. We were sitting in the back of a taxi cab in winter when she said, "Mom, it's hard being someone who cares about the environment."
"What do you mean, Mika?"
"Well, people look at me funny and tease me for wanting to do things to save the planet. It's hard, Mom."
"You know, Mika, people used to think the Earth was flat. And then when some smart people tried to say that it was round, they got picked on and criticized for thinking such a thing! Hang in there, Sunshine. People will catch up to you. In the meantime, you just need to smile and lead by example."
When I stop to consider how the world has "advanced" in the last 100 years, it's impossible for me to imagine in what kind of world my children will be expected to weave their lives. They will be the future leaders and decision makers of a world we can only imagine.
But we have a responsibility now to educate, inspire and offer hope to children so they can believe in a world that is safe, healthy and full of promise for their children, too.
We've heard enough conversations about oil spills and ozone layers. Believe in Green is a non-profit project designed to put the attention back on the things we DO want. Fresh air, clean water, and healthy living. For us, for the kids, for the planet.
Think BiG!
The little people are counting on us!
